Domus Henrici
Loretánská 11, Prague, 118 00, Czech RepublicWhy We Like It
A city-center hotel that's walking distance from most of the main sights (in Mala Strana at least) but that somehow has an old world, countryside feel, thanks to its proximity to the wooded hills of Petřín Park.
A great option for guests who want to be well-looked after in a quiet location, at a good price point, and who aren't after too many frills amenities-wise. Plus the views from the shared terrace are lovely.
Fodor's Expert Review
Close to the castle and the city center but (somehow) also by a forest, the Domus Henrici, sister hotel to the Domus Balthasar, has rooms with knock-out terraces overlooking the trees of Petřín Park, and a gorgeously secluded, quiet feel. The building is historic (parts date back to at least 1372) but the large, comfortable rooms are modern, with stylish dark wooden furniture.
You Should Know You might hear church bells chiming at 6 a.m. They could disturb your sleep, but it's up to you whether you'll find this irritating or charming!

Room
Rooms are large and calm, with white bed linen, fashionably faded patterned rugs, and dark wood--plus good Wi-Fi and writing desks.
Tip Three rooms share a gorgeous terrace (Room 8 is the nicest).
Bathroom
The bathrooms are notably large and the bath/showers are powerful and hot. The bathtubs are a little steep-sided, which might be difficult for older or less mobile guests, but once you're in they are great for a good long soak.
Lobby
The lobby continues the same chilled but stylish vibe, with welcoming staff who have a similarly chilled, competent "we'll take care of that for you sir/madam" demeanor.
Dining
A tasty buffet breakfast is included in the room rate, somewhat unusually for Prague hotels. The team also serves up some hot options, and gluten-free is available on request (give 24 hours-notice). There's no restaurant.
What's Nearby
Getting Around
The hotel is beautifully located, with great views, but the bad news is that this means it is at the top of a big hill (the same hill that Prague castle sits upon). However, Pohořelec tram stop is nearby and serviced by the trusty No.22 tram, which hits all the main sights.
Restaurants
There's tasty French fare on offer at Cafe Paris (16-minute walk); get the beef entrecôte and french fries, with the special house sauce. Or try CODA (14-minute walk), the rooftop restaurant at the Aria Hotel, for good food and more great views from the summer terrace.
