Train Travel

There are straightforward rail connections to the region by way of Geneva and Lausanne to the west and Brig to the east. The two are connected by one clean rail sweep that runs the length of the valley. The run to main connections midvalley takes about two hours. Add on another hour to arrive at mountain destinations. Routes into smaller tributary valleys are limited, although most resorts are served by postbuses running directly from train stations. The Mont Blanc–St. Bernard Express, with its signature red-and-white cars, passes through Le Châble for connections to Verbier on its way from Martigny to Chamonix. In Le Châble, take the cableway or bus for the 10- to 20-minute ride.
