Fodor's Expert Review
Recent updates and extensions have turned what was long the Pension Zipser into the Hotel Zipser. The building, ornamented with a gilt-trimmed coat-of-arms, began life as Mrs. Zipser’s Home for Young Girls in 1904, and not long afterward was converted into a pension made famous among the Viennese by a local author, who included it in his book Tales from the Vienna Woods. It has been owned by the same family for more than forty five years and is a favorite in the quaint and quiet Josefstadt neighborhood. In addition to the rooms, two private apartments (named Leopold and Ferdinand, after the two most recent additions to the family) are also available.

Room
Spacious and cheerfully decorated, guests will be pleased to know that all rooms come with a coffeemaker. Some rooms have balconies that overlook the leafy courtyard. The newer rooms come with air conditioning, an often hard-to-find perk in Old World Vienna.
You Should Know Not all of the rooms have been updated, and those are dark and dated.
Bathroom
Sinks have granite countertops and most are outfitted with both showers and tubs.
Lobby
Airy and sunlit, with plenty of comfortable seating around sturdy tea tables, in case you feel inclined to break out your laptop or Kindle.
Dining
A breakfast buffet is served each morning
Drinking
There is 24 hour bar service, though it is simply an accommodating space to sit and have a drink, with no bar "vibe."

Getting Around
Street parking would be a miracle to find most days, but the hotel arranges parking at a nearby garage. The Rathaus Ubahn stop is a quick, 10-minute walk.
Restaurants
Despite the large space, Zum Moghulhof still manages to be warm and inviting. The Punjab family who owns it serves up authentic Indian food, with a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. Aragwi—named for the river that runs through the Caucasus- is a top-of-the-line, Georgian restuarant serving authentic cuisine. Enjoy the charming decor while eating your Khachapuri and Khinkali. For Austrian fare, head to Boheme for some delicious schnitzel.
