Abercrombie & Kent - Classic Japan tour
First post on these forums. I hope I'm allowed to ask about specific tour companies; if not please let me know and I will edit or remove my post.
Considering booking Japan tour through A&K. We might add Nikko and Hiroshima extensions before and after the main tour. Would be there for a total of 17 days touring and will probably plan to arrive 1-2 days early to adjust to time change. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has done the A&K Japan tour. Thanks!

Please do extensive research before booking! That is a VERY expensive holiday and I’d recommend searching out information about a range of tour agencies. From what I’ve seen of the itinerary, there’s nothing so special that warrants such hefty prices.

Not likely on this forum which mostly offers DIY advice and not for coccoon tourists.
The Hiroshima part of the Hiroshima extension is just a day-trip from Osaka. Visit Peace Park and Museum and some time on Miyajima. Is the shinkansen travel in green car? How do you get between St Regis and Shin Osaka.
I think I would be disappointed if the tour group was more than 9 people. The price is about $1650 per day. per person At that price I would want a native-English & Japanese speaking guide/escort. For Day 1 I could see paying $200 for the arrival and hotel transfer service and $700 for the hotel night, so more like a $1000 day not $1650+. In Kyoto firgure same hotel cost $700 and I could hire an MK Taxi tour for $600 for 8 hours. That would be a 4- or 9-passenger vehicle. That $600 would get private service, just you and me - and our guide who costs maybe $300 for the day.
So adding up those three costs for a Kyoto day gets to $1600 for hotel, car, guide. That is the shared cost for two of us, so $800 pp. We have another $1600 to $2000 to spend that day for the two of us.
